- 30 credit hour funding cap

-11th and 12th grade eligible students may take any approved Dual Enrollment courses listed on the Course Directory, at an eligible participating postsecondary institution (USG, TCSG or private).
​-
 10th graders are only funded for occupational/CTAE courses unless student scores a 26 on the ACT or a 1200 on the SAT in one national test administration
- 9th graders are not eligible for dual enrollment funding. They can participate but must self-pay for tuition and required fees.

What is a School Counselor?

School counselors create comprehensive school counseling programs that focus on student outcomes, teach student competencies and are delivered with identified professional competencies.  The VIP school counselor provides support services for the entire program community.
The VIP school counselor assists students with their academic, social, and personal needs by monitoring student progress to ensure students meet graduation requirements.  This includes direct student services, individual student planning, responsive services, and indirect student services.  She refers students, when necessary and appropriate, to other services in Newton County Schools such as special education, psychological services, social services, homebound instruction, etc. when necessary.

  • Personal/Social Counseling and Support
  • College Research, Applications, and Scholarship Information
  • Career Exploration and Development
  • Transcripts/Graduation Credit Checks
  • Course Scheduling
  • Community Agency Referrals
  • Collaboration with School Psychologist and Social Worker
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Financial Aid Information
  • Information regarding the Military/Armed Services

  1. ​10th Grade = 5 Units

  3. 12th Grade = 17 Units
  4. Graduation = 23 Units are required for graduation​​
